When it comes to music the goal is always improved sound quality. Ideally, with a proper amplifier, a preamplifier and more sensitive tuners of separates you’ll get the extraordinary sound quality you're looking for: a tighter and punchier bass, vocals sound as clean and natural as they did when they were recorded. Highs will be detailed and smooth, not muddy and painful.
However, separates are not the only answer. If your lounge is too small for big black boxes, and your life's too short for obsessing about speaker wire, the answer is all-in-one simplicity. Downsizing to a smaller micro system gives you all the music-playing equipment you need in a tidy little box.
Maybe you also want to experience the latest forms of surround sound. This is the way to get better stereo separation and sound imaging when you watch a concert or a movie.

Pure's stand at last week's What Hifi/Stuff Show was literally bursting with shiny new gadgets. We took some snaps for ourselves, (see our AVR and GadgetCentre reports) but since then Pure has kindly sent us some more info on its three latest DAB powered table-toppers.
First is the quite beautiful Pure Legato II micro system. The Legato II incorporates a DAB/FM tuner, CD player (compatible with CD-R and CD-RW playback) plus 30W amp and features all of Pure's latest innovations; EPG, SD-card slot for recording, Intellitext and ReVu. It's out this month for around £350 - we're clearing a suitable space on the kitchen table as we speak...

Evesham has launched a new hi-fi system without the words “iPod” and “dock” attached to the name.
The SoundWords Radio CD from Creative plays regular CDs as well as MP3 CDs, and incorporates an AM/FM radio tuner with 24 station presets and two alarms.
Creative's proprietary subwoofer technology means that it is stored in its own vented enclosure in the small hi-fi, and provides a deep bass foundation for room-filling sound.

Good Points
Simple and easy to connect.
Low output (20W+20W RMS), but it gives a good responsive sound with rich BASS, ROCK+BASS ON.
Good sound quality from MP3 CD/Video CD and Tuner.
The BASS is not that rich on an Audio CD (but, who listens to them these days)....
